Vauxhall has revealed its entry-level version of the Vauxhall Ampera, which will cost from £29,995 (after the £5000 government plug-in discount).
Dubbed Vauxhall Ampera Earth, the entry-level car is £2255 less expensive than the mid-spec Positiv version. The range-topping Electron model costs from £34k with the government’s incentive.
Compared with the Positiv and Electron-spec models, the Earth does without parking sensors, leather seats and the 30GB HDD system.
Features such as the seven-inch touch screen, DAB radio and Bluetooth are, however, retained. Cruise control and remote keyless entry are also included.
The Vauxhall Ampera range extender is powered by an 86bhp/93lb ft torque electric motor, which is backed up by a compact four-cylinder combustion engine.
Vauxhall claims better than 300mpg for the Ampera in urban use and a maximum cruising range of more than 300 miles. Tailpipe emissions are a claimed 27g/km of CO2.
