Aston Martin One-77

One of the world’s most exotic sports cars, the £1.2m carbonfibre One-77, reaches its first owners next spring – and at least 50 of the planned production run of 77 are sold.

Aston Martin Cygnet

Aston’s tweaked Toyota iQ city car arrives in September and gets a considerably different exterior, which is characterised by Aston design cues, and a revamped interior.

Ariel Atom V8

The 500bhp V8-powered Atom 500 should finally go into production next March.

Audi R8 Spyder
On sale May
Price £110,000
The open-top R8 will carry a £10k premium over the hard-top version, which makes it the most expensive car that Audi has ever sold.

Audi A1
On sale October
Price £14,000
Probably the most important new model for Audi in 2010 is the A1 supermini. Based on the Polo and aimed squarely at the Mini, the A1 is likely to be seen first at the Geneva show in March and then launched in the UK in October.

Audi A8
On sale March
Price £50,000
The alloy spaceframe platform is claimed to be all new and the styling sportier but evolutionary.

Audi TT - facelift
A facelift is due for the coupe and the roadster in the autumn; the two-seater could even receive a stop-start system

Bentley Mulsanne
On sale May
Price £200,000
The successor to the stately Arnage is a much more modern car and owes nothing to the older saloon. Under the bonnet is a 6.75-litre V8 but, despite having the same capacity, it’s not really related to the 6.75 engine that Bentley has been using since 1959.

BMW X5 - facelift
Big SUV is due a facelift in May, with cosmetic changes to the front and rear, and new engines.

BMW 5-series
On sale April
Price £27,555 to £49,440
The saloon starts the action and is followed in September by the Touring. Developed alongside the new 5-series GT, the platform is all-new and features all-steel construction in place of the hybrid steel/alloy engineering of today’s car.

BMW X1
On sale Now
Price £24,205
BMW's baby crossover works best in a more basic guise - but it's a compelling drive.

BMW X3
On sale October
Price £35,000
Billed as an all-new model, it is based on the next-generation 3-series platform and grows in size to fill the gap between the X5 and new X1. Some sources suggest it may be as big as a Range Rover Sport.

BMW 3-series Coupe/CC
On sale March
Price from £26,500
When the 3-series range was tweaked earlier this year, the Coupe and Convertible missed out.

Cadillac
There’s no word from GM about the UK availability of the Cadillac SRX SUV, CTS Coupé and CTS estate, which were meant to be coming in 2010.

Caterham seven cSR
On sale Summer
Price £33k-£42k
The 2.3-litre Ford unit that Cosworth tweaks and builds for the Caterham CSR goes out of production next year, so Caterham will have to find a new powerplant. That’s expected to be a tweaked version of the 2.0-litre Duratec, with power ranging from 200 to 250bhp, depending on version.

Citroen C3
On sale January

Citroën is planning a C3 capable of emitting just 99g/km of CO2 from its new diesel engine

Citroen DS3
On sale March
Price from £12,500
Citroën will take on the Mini in March with the stylish new DS3 hatch. Priced from around £12,500 to £18k to cover the Mini from One to Cooper S, the DS3 will feature three petrol engines and two diesels, co-developed by PSA with BMW.

Citroen C-ZERO
On sale Winter
Price £20,000
Citroën’s take on Mitsubishi’s electric iMiEV is the same car with the double chevron on the nose. A full charge takes six hours and range is 80 miles, top speed is 80mph and 62mph takes 15 seconds.

Chevrolet Spark
On sale March

With a choice of 70bhp 1.0 and 84bhp 1.2 petrol engines, the Spark will be marketed as a youthful small car replete with bright exterior paint options.

Chevrolet Orlando
On sale December
Price £13-£21,000
Chevy’s version of the next-generation Zafira is tipped for a Geneva show debut. Featuring blocky styling like the concept’s, the Orlando is expected to score with a highly competitive price/equipment mix.

Chevrolet Captiva - facelift
A mild facelift for the SUV, centred on upgraded Euro 5 engines in Dec; prices from £16,000

Dodge Caliber
On sale Winter
Price £13,500
While Chrysler rebuilds its business, next year’s model plan is up in the air. At some point in 2010, however, a 2.2 diesel Caliber is likely to arrive in the UK.

Fiat Topolino
On sale Late 2010
Price £6000
Only a rumour at present, but a new city car could be coming in late 2010, previewed by a concept at the Geneva show.

Fiat Punto Evo
On sale January
Price £11-£14,000
Styling changes spruce up the exterior and a higher-quality fascia, modelled on the Bravo’s, lifts the interior. New engines include a brace of 1.4 Multiair units with 95bhp and 133bhp. There’s also a new 93bhp 1.3 Multijet diesel.

Fiat 500
Improved 1.3 Multijet diesel, with an extra 20bhp, makes an appearance in the 500 in February; it’s also due to get a new two-cylinder engine

Ferrari 458 Italia

The replacement for the F430 is not only more thrilling but also much more well rounded; it’s now a bona fide supercar
