The facelifted Toyota Prius will cost from £21,350 when it goes on sale in March. Revisions to the hybrid Prius – now in its third generation – include a new bumper, which houses a larger lower grille and new clear-lens headlights. Its LED daytime running lights have been moved beneath the indicators. Because of the changes, the Prius gains 20mm in length compared with its predecessor.

Inside, darker materials are used on the dash and silver inserts used around the centre console and air vents and the car’s starter button gets blue illumination. Changes have also been made to the seats, which offer wider adjustment.

Toyota’s touchscreen control system now comes as standard across the model range, with the firm’s multimedia and navigation system (including Bluetooth and rear-view camera) a standard feature on Prius T Spirit models.

Mechanically, the hybrid’s suspension components have been stiffened for increased rigidity and NVH levels improved. Redesigned bracing for the steering column also improves steering feel, according to Toyota.

Later in the year, the facelifted Prius is joined by the Prius Plug-in Hybrid and seven-seat Prius+.
