This is the new Honda CR-V, unveiled in remarkably realistic ‘concept’ form at today's Geneva motor show.

Already launched in nearly identical visual form in the US, the CR-V is described as an ‘all-new’ model and will go on sale from the autumn and be built at Honda’s Swindon factory.

Although Honda remains tight-lipped on the details, it is expected that the CR-V will be fitted with company’s long-awaited 118bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine.

The car’s ride and handling has been re-engineered for European tastes and the company says there have also been an extensive series of other changes that will differentiate the US and European versions of the car.

The US version of the new CR-V also has the unusual ability to read out text messages from the driver’s phone, a feature that may also make its way into its European sister car.
