Ferrari hypercars only come around once per decade. Can a V6 be a worthy enough powertrain?

Just how spectacular is the new Ferrari F80? This once-a-decade hypercar has the grandest of predecessors: the GTO (aka 288), F40, F50, Enzo and LaFerrari.

Into the pantheon now comes this, the F80, the most technologically advanced road car Ferrari has ever made. It uses a 3.0-litre V6 making a whopping 888bhp (900hp), to which it adds three electric motors - one at the rear and two at the front - to give a system total of 1184bhp (1200hp).

And it's going after lap times. At five seconds a lap faster around Ferrari's Fiorano test track than a LaFerrari, the F80 becomes so fast that it's the first special Ferrari opted to launch outside its facility.
