Land Rover celebrates Discovery's 25th anniversary with new special edition, on sale in Q4

A special commemorative edition of the Land Rover Discovery has been launched at the Geneva motor show. The Discovery XXV celebrates the 25th anniversary of the launch of the original model.

The XXV is based on the existing HSE Luxury specification and comes finished in bespoke 'Causeway Grey' paint. It gets 'Narvik Black' grille surrounds and mirror caps, as well as full-length silver roof rails. Unique 20-inch alloys and 'XXV' badging on the front doors and tailgate are also fitted.

Inside, the fascia, instrument binnacle and door-tops are covered in Windsor leather. Twist pile carpet and a leather-wrapped steering wheel complete the changes.

By the beginning of this year, Land Rover had made 1,088,000 Discoverys at its Solihull plant.

The original Discovery was introduced in 1989 having been designed to fill a gap between the more utilitarian Defender and the upmarket Range Rover. During its first nine years on sale, over 392,000 Discoveries were built. By comparison, the Series II Disco managed 278,500 sales over its six-year run.

The Land Rover Discovery XXV is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of this year at a price of around £63,000.
